CSSLR Yahoo Group to be Closed

August 18th, 2009

Yahoo Group Closure

As announced in the News and Events in June, the CSSLR Yahoo Group will be closed on August 31, 2009 in favor of a blog at the new CSSLR (now SLRC) website, http://silverlakereservoirs.org. You can reach the blog directly at http://blog.silverlakereservoirs.org.

The blog does not allow comments, so if you would like to comment on a post, please contact SLRC with your comment. We will be happy to review it, and might use it in a future blog post.

Accessing the New Blog

You may access the blog posts in a variety of ways:

  1. You can visit the blog itself and read the posts
  2. You can get notices of postings via email. Everyone who on the Yahoo group has been subscribed to the new blog. If you would rather subscribe via RSS, please visit the blog and unsubscribe.
  3. You can subscribe to the blog via RSS

    What is RSS?

What is the difference between RSS and email?
When you subscribe to feed, the reader checks periodically to see if there are any new messages, and if so, will get a list of them for you. It will only get feeds that you subscribed to, unlike an email client that just gets what’s in the mailbox, whether you wanted it or not.

Find out more information about RSS at Wikipedia.

    RSS in Your Browser

Most browsers now support RSS, and you do not need a separate RSS reader.

    Stand Alone RSS Readers

If you do not want to use your browser, you can always download and install stand alone RSS client.

The CSSLR Yahoo Group is still open but no longer accepts posts by members. Members will still be able to access the group until August 31, 2009 when it will be permanently deleted.

New Blog, New Web Site

Welcome to the new Blog at Silver Lake Reservoirs Conservancy. This blog replaces the old Yahoo Group.

There have been some changes to the web site as well. There is now a Gallery with some wonderful photos.

There is more to come! When the herons come back to nest in the spring, there will be a Heron Cam. If you would read up on these wonderful birds before then, please read up on herons at WikiPedia.

Please visit us often, and live life abundantly!
